Membership requirements
Companion of the Business Management Association (CBMA)

The highest grade of membership that the Association can confer. Awarded by invitation of the Council only. Grade is reserved for people who have given outstanding service either to the Association or to their own field of endeavour.

Fellow of the Business Management Association (FBMA)

Candidates must have at least 5 years proven managerial experience and must have passed the final exam of the Association. Exemption conditions as per membership grade apply to this category.

Member of the Business Management Association (MBMA)

Candidates must have at least 3 years proven managerial experience and must have passed the final examination of the association. Exemption from the final exam is granted to candidates who are members of approved professional organisations or who have passed equivalent examinations.

Associate of the Business Management Association (ABMA)

Candidates must have at least 1 years proven managerial experience and must hold a qualification considered by the membership committee to warrant election to this grade.

Affiliate of the Business Management Association (AffBMA)

Candidates must be either following a course of study in pursuit of an award of the Association or alternatively studying for an equivalent award of another organisation.

Certified Business Management Accountant 

(A division of the Association)

Fellow Certified Business Management Accountant (FCBMA) 

Member Certified Business Management Accountant (MCBMA) 


Candidates must either hold qualifications considered by the council to be equivalent to our syllabus or have passed the Associations prescribed examinations.

In addition, proven managerial experience within a business/accountancy environment is required at the following minimum levels:
  • Fellow - 5 years
  • Member - 3 years
